1- How do I properly clean my wood flooring?

The best tools that you can use to clean your hardwood floor are a vacuum cleaner, broom and mop. A vacuum cleaner is best for picking up dust and small particles. Vacuums usually come with other attachments such as a crevice tool to help with hard-to-reach places such as in between boards. A broom may be used on hardwood floors for particles that a vacuum can't completely pick up, such as sand. A mop, such as a reusable or disposable terrycloth mop, is best for cleaning up liquid.
Water-based cleaners are the safest and easiest cleaners to use on hardwood floors. You can clean your floor with a cleaning solution that's recommended by the manufacturer of your hardwood flooring. When cleaning your floor, make sure to avoid harsh soap, ammonia, vinegar, furniture polish, wax-based products, detergent and bleach. These may stain and damage the finish on your floor.
Before you mop your hardwood floor with the cleaning solution of your choice, always vacuum or sweep the floor to remove all traces of dust or abrasive particles. The particles are abrasive and can scratch your floor while you mop. Follow vacuuming and sweeping by applying the cleaner on the floor or on the mop. Mop the floor using a back-and-forth motion one section at a time. When you've covered the entire area, check that you've mopped the cleaning solution clean from the entire floor.
Using doormats at entrances will help to remove dirt and water from shoes and prevent it from getting on the floor. In high-traffic areas, using an area rug will help to prevent scratches. Using felt furniture floor protector pads will also prevent scratches on hardwood floors. Avoid direct sunlight on hardwood floor or discoloring may occur. To avoid cracks and squeaks, use a dehumidifier or air conditioner to control the humidity level.

2- How Can I repair a gouge or deep scratch in my wood flooring?

If the damage is smaller than the size of a quarter you can usually use a repair kit recommended by your manufacturer to repair the damage. If it is any larger, the plank or strip should be replaced. If unsure, consult your manufacturer for the best solution for your situation.

3-How do I remove stains from my wood flooring?

Use and a soft cloth and a solution recommended by your manufacturer or mineral spirits. Never poor the solution or mineral spirits directly on the flooring.

4-Why are there gaps between the planks or strips on my wood floor?

Your wood floors can expand and contract due to changes in humidity. Because of this it is common for cracks and small gaps to appear between the planks or strips in your wood floors, especially floors with wider planks. Try to keep the room in between 35% and 55%  humidity level using an air conditioner, humidifier, or a dehumidifier when needed. Also, prior to installation, let your floor acclimate to its surroundings. See the manufacturers recommended acclimation time before installation.

5- Is it important to acclimate my solid wood flooring with the room in which it will be installed?

Yes. You should let you solid wood flooring sit unopened and flat in the room in which it will be installed for at least 48 hours before installation. If you are installing in a room that has humidity issues, you may need to use a humidifier or dehumidifier.

6- Is one width better than another when it comes to wood floor planks and strips?

No, it comes down to what you prefer.
